Road Trip adds a new progression system to American Truck Simulator built around delivery quality rather than standard experience points. At the center of that system is Courier Rating, which records how well players handle customer jobs and determines what kind of work becomes available later.
Every completed delivery receives a star rating based on three areas: Time Management, Vehicle Appearance, and Cargo Handling. Players who enjoy extending other open-world games through community content such as GTA 6 Mods may recognize the appeal of having more systems that change how the same game world is used. In Road Trip, the difference comes from new job rules and progression rather than a completely separate map.

Three parts of every review
Time Management is not simply about beating a deadline. Customers expect the driver to arrive at a particular time, so reaching the destination too early can count against the job just as arriving late can.
Vehicle Appearance measures the condition in which the car arrives, which makes careful driving important even when the cargo itself has not been damaged. Cargo Handling focuses on what is being delivered, so valuable documents may be judged differently from fragile plant seedlings.
Together, these three areas determine how well the customer rates the completed job. The system gives players more to think about than simply reaching the destination as quickly as possible.
Customer priorities can change
Not every customer values the same things equally. Before accepting a contract, players may see that one part of the review matters more to that particular customer.
Meeting those expectations can make a delivery more demanding, especially if the job already includes valuable or fragile cargo. The extra difficulty can also come with a better financial reward, giving players a reason to consider more than just the listed payout when choosing work.

Courier Rating unlocks better jobs
The overall Courier Rating affects several parts of Road Trip progression. A stronger rating can unlock longer routes, more difficult contracts, and jobs involving fragile or valuable deliveries.
Higher ratings can also improve earning potential. As the player builds a better record, the available jobs become more demanding and the rewards can increase with them.
This makes Courier Rating more than a simple score displayed after a delivery. It directly affects the kind of work the player can access later.
Perfect Delivery Streaks reward consistency
Players who repeatedly complete five-star jobs can build a Perfect Delivery Streak. Maintaining that streak provides an additional money bonus on top of the normal job reward.
A strong delivery therefore contributes to both immediate earnings and longer-term progression. Consistency matters because each successful job can improve the overall rating while also keeping the streak alive.

Progress without traditional XP
Road Trip does not use a separate XP system for Car Mode. Progress instead comes through Courier Rating, customer reviews, and repeated delivery performance.
That approach suits the smaller, customer-focused jobs found in Road Trip. Rather than advancing simply by accumulating experience, players improve their career by meeting customer expectations and building a stronger delivery record over time.
